SABI to incorporate award-winning designs as part of new line in strategic expansion
PALO ALTO, CA (June 18th, 2013) – Sabi, a Palo Alto-based company, today announced the acquisition of OMHU, a New York-based design driven business that designs, makes and sells walking canes and other products that support the activities of daily living. OMHU, a private company, is expected to play an important role in the expansion of Sabi’s product offering in the mobility sector. OMHU’s products complement Sabi’s existing range of products which currently include a range of accessories for the daily consumption of vitamins and pills. Founded by entrepreneur Assaf Wand in fall 2009, Sabi fulfills Wand’s mission to offer products that infuse the tasks and rituals of daily life with a sense of delight, while also inspiring users to appreciate life in the moment. This philosophy aligns directly with that of OMHU (Danish for “with great care”) which was founded in 2009 by Rie Nørregaard, Susy Korb and Susan Towers. “We are thrilled that OMHU is joining us. As part of the acquisition, Rie Nørregaard, Founder and CEO of OMHU, will be joining the Sabi team as Creative Director. “I am very pleased to join the Sabi team and for OMHU to become part of a company that shares my original vision. Under the terms of the transaction, Sabi will take full ownership of the company and thus assume ownership of all assets, intellectual property and copyright. Terms were not disclosed. OMHU’s products will be available under the Sabi brand name starting in September 2013.
