Omhu Canes were designed on the principles of Universal Design: to make the cane adaptable to as many different people as possible, for as long as possible. They’re meant to last a lifetime and like the best of us, improve with age.

Our Scandinavian heritage has long heralded the reassuring sensory input of touching wood; the Omhu cane handle is made of Baltic birch. The handle is also made explicitly wide at the point of grip, to relax some of the tensile stress required by delicate hand muscles and joints. The thin invisible rubber strip secures your grip and the grip of the cane itself if leaned against a wall. The cane handle is finished with natural vegetable-based Livos oil, making it easy to clean. Our wood handle will not break down like a foam covered handle, which can collect mold.

Omhu also has proven better stability. Our patented tip incorporates the same technology used in hiking boots and running shoes, with an air cushion for a smooth walk at any speed and a superior grip for the most uneven surfaces.

Lots of good points to this cane: Well made, cheerful to use, sturdy to use. However, the offset of the straight part means it's impossible to hook it on a table or counter edge--a real disadvantage when shopping. The narrow strip that is supposed to prevent it from falling over when leaned against something, doesn't really work. Also, don't be tempted to go by their general measurements for your height. Pay the extra and get your exact size. Would I recommend? Yes, but with the above caveats.
I love walking around town with my bright turquoise cane.
As a general walking stabilizer, you can't go wrong with this cane. It's sturdy, well-adjusted, and visually appealing.
